Character Development

1. Brainstorm about your character:
 - Name, age, family members
 - Hobbies, likes/dislikes
 - What they look like
 - What they struggle with
 - Their good points/bad points
 - What do they want really badly?
 - Why can't they get it?
 - What makes the character likeable?

2. You need to know everything about your character but this information will not necessarily be in your story.

3. Find your character's voice.
  How do they talk?
What distinctive language do they use?
Do they talk differently in different circumstances?
Will you write your story in first person or third person?

4. What is your character's main strength?
What makes the reader like them?
  What is their main flaw?
What helps the reader identify with them?
What do they want really badly? What drives the story?
