Plan the Plot
Using all the ideas you've put together from the previous points, you can now plan the plot of your whole story from the start to the end.
Depending on how you like to work, you could plan it:
Or check out my Pinterest page 'Writing Tips for Kids' here.
Whichever way you choose to plan the plot, remember to use Beginning, Middle and Ending as your base.
Beginning
Introduce characters, setting, problem (Who, Where, What)
Middle
Sequence of events where character is trying to resolve the problem. Tension is building until the climax at the end of this middle section.
One example:
Attempt number one - doesn't work
Attempt number two - doesn't work, things seem to be getting worse
Attempt number three - doesn't work, things seem to be worse than ever OR it works and leads to the resolution in the next section.
Ending
Problem is resolved, what happens to characters now or how do they feel?
Consider whether your story is circular or a journey.
Circular - the story ends at the same place it began but this time with the problem resolved.
Journey - the character is different to when they first began, what did they learn, how have they grown?
Depending on how you like to work, you could plan it:
- As a list
- In a drawing
- In a graphic organiser template
